Curricula and Standards
National standards: Common Core and NGSS
- Common Core: a set of rigorous academic standards in math and English language arts designed to prepare students for college, careers, and life. Developed by educators and experts, it emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning. Adopted by 41 states, the District of Columbia, and several U.S. territories, the standards are research-based, clear, consistent, and aligned with college and career expectations. Focused on higher-order thinking and practical skills, they build on proven state standards and global best practices to equip students for a competitive world.
- Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS): a set of K-12 science education standards designed to improve science instruction by focusing on deep understanding and application of scientific concepts. They emphasize three key dimensions: scientific practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas. The NGSS aim to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and an understanding of science as a dynamic process, preparing students for college, careers, and informed citizenship. Developed by educators, scientists, and experts, the NGSS are designed to be rigorous, engaging, and relevant to real-world challenges.
Language Arts
- Reading, Writing, & Grammar
- We use highly effective, proprietary, research based programs enjoyed by our students and praised by our parents and teacher.
Math
- Accelerated Math
- Students are guided through a rigorous math program designed to challenge and encourage them. Working at their own pace, students master skills before moving on to increasingly more complicated math and logic.
Humanities/Social Studies
- The humanities are often interwoven with Language Arts. Topics vary by grade level as students build upon their knowledge year after year.
Jewish Studies
- Each semester, Tamim Academy of Austin proudly hosts Israeli student teachers earning their Education degrees. Working alongside experienced Tamim teachers, they use creative methods to explore Torah, Mishna, Jewish history, and Life Skills while strengthening students’ Hebrew through immersion.
- Jewish holidays and festivals are an integral part of Tamim Academy’s Judaic Studies program. The study and celebration of a holiday starts when the previous one ends. Special trips and activities, during the intermediate days of a festival, enrich the students’ (and staff!) experiences. Tamim also hosts a variety of events for the community.

Science
- Tamim Academy uses a project-based, hands on curriculum for STEAM. Students learn through doing, building their confidence, understanding, and knowledge base of a wide variety of science and technology topics
Life Skills
- Life Skills education fosters personal growth and social success by equipping students with essential tools for everyday life. Through self-regulation and well-being, they learn to manage emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy habits that support their overall mental and physical health. Problem-solving and innovation encourage them to think critically, approach challenges with creativity, and adapt to new situations with confidence. Just as important is a strong sense of belonging and contribution, which nurtures empathy, teamwork, and a desire to make a meaningful impact on the world around them. Together, these skills create a foundation for students to thrive, both in school and beyond.
